Hi all,

XP Pro + Office 2003 (again), after a brief stint with the 2007 Beta. I have an extremely odd problem now that I've returned to 2003, however. In Excel, both the Save and Save As.. options are unavailable (greyed out) at all times! I can however, save using keystroke commands (a la CTRL + S) I don't have this problem in any of the other Office programs, and no matter what I do, there is no way Excel is going allow me to use those icons. I'm assuming that some add-in/modification of Excel got botched going to 2007 and then back to 2003, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Any advice?

Thaks,
Jason

Just a thought from fixing a different strange, Excel only problem recently: look in it's startup folder and remove any files from in there and see if it fixes it.

Close Excel. Rename or delete *.xlb file. Re-start Excel

It store customizations to Excel. Such as extra icons added to toolbar, custom header, custom footer, etc.

Sometimes it gets bloated (or corrupted) and at that point there is nothing you can do except to delete it.

It's in different places on different systems. You will need to do a search. Most likely under user profile\application data

Also, (not very likely, but) there might be more than once instance of the xlb file.
