Hi there,

I seem to be having problems exporting to a tab delimited text file. The issue is that some of my cells are blank, and when I save as a tab delimited text file, sometimes Excel decides to right-trim an entire row if one or more of the rightmost cells are blank. I tried this in Excel XP as well, and the results are the same. Anyone heard of this?

Thanks!

Allan

Yes, this has happened to me before.
My workaround was just to have a dummy rightmost column
in the Excel Sheet that was populated for every row.
I just put an "X" in row one of the column and filled it
all the way down. Crude, but it got around the export
problem.

acarruth,
Does your column have a field name for the blank column?
Are you having a problem with the text file itself, or the way it imports back to excel?
I think just putting an "X" in row 1 will do the trick without copying it down. I had blank cells in far right column. No problem.
I tested on msexcel2002

Hi,

Yeah all the columns have field names. I ended up just importing the table into access and then outputing a csv from there.. it actually works. Pain in the butt though.

Thanks for the help,

Allan
