1) I got to admit I have never used that Windows Search tool - Windows Commander's "find files" works fine. And as I think about it, I have actually never used Windows Explorer since Wincommander came to me 
2) My opinion is that connecting to the net without third-party firewall set up is something similar to not to use seat belts in a car or a plane.
