We have NT4 Server

Our Event Log setting are set to overwrite at a certain size so the current logs only go back to 2003. I have been asked to find event logs from 2002. Are these logs kept under any other extension other than .evt

Although thinking about it properly, you could take a look at your backup tapes...

A wise move for the future is to create a script to copy the evt files to a seperate directory, saved in folders named as dates. I had to do this for a company a couple of years ago, drawing the evt files from servers located in the uk and various european countries. These were then backed up specifically to tape.
