One of our users has been getting the following error repeatedly on her PC for about two weeks:

Event ID: 7032
Type: Error

Description: The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Restart the service) after the unexpected termination of the Windows Management Instrumentation service, but this action failed with the following error: An instance of the service is already running.

The Windows Management Instrumentation service is critical to the PC. This sounds like a big problem, but Microsoft's Knowledgebase has nothing about this Event ID. I have been considering going to a restore point that was prior to the first appearance of this message. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

This talks about Database corruption.

Maybe something like this will help, it has with other WMI problems?

WinMgmt could not initialize the core parts: To reinstall wmi into the registry:

Go to Start/Run and type in: CMD, then Winmgmt/? for information. Then run each of these hitting enter after each:

winmgmt/clearadap
winmgmt/kill
winmgmt/unregserver
winmgmt/regserver
winmgmt/resyncperf

Thanks! I will try to implement this solution today. The user's PC is not on yet (9:00 AM local time). I connect to her PC remotely because she works at another building about 1/2 and hour away from here. Her PC is not on right now. Her department works on flex time, so she may work 10 hours a day, Tues - Fri. Anyway, I'll try it either today or tomorrow! I'll post it here whether or not the solution works.

Once again, thanks!
