When any user logs into this pc on the network it diplays the following:

No Windows NT Domain Controller is available for domain XYZ. (This event is expected and can be ignored when booting with the 'No Net' Hardware Profile.) The following error occurred: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Microsoft have said that it something to do with WINS. This can not be the case as it has been setup exactly the same as every other pc on the network.

Have you exhausted all connection related possibilities? ie.. are you really getting to the network? If are getting to the network can you ping any DC by its machine name.

Try adding the following to your lmhosts file as a test.

[IPAdress] [DCServerName] #PRE #DOM:[domain]

Reboot. If it will authenticate after this is added then it is a WINS issue. If it still won't then there is some kind of communication problem between the PC and the server.

As above, try it and see. I have had WINS do some extremely strange things in the past for no apparent reason. I was nearly reduced to incense and goat entrails at one point... but that's for another thread.
