I am recieving a lot of this events on my DC´s all over the world.

I´ve recieved one msg everytime a VPN user connects on the network.

Anyone have had the same problem before ?

And better anyone have solved this problem ?

My ideia is to register the VPN subnets ( there are 2 vpn subnets on my network ) on the nearstest Domain Controller.

Thanks
Nelson de Almeida Gomes

Event Details bellow :
Event Type: Information
Event Source: NETLOGON
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5778
Date: 3/20/2006
Time: 11:18:13 PM
User: N/A
Computer: USSVS-DC01
Description:
'USCUL-LSAKALKAL' tried to determine its site by looking up its IP address ('143.186.88.96') in the Configuration\Sites\Subnets container in the DS. No subnet matched the IP address. Consider adding a subnet object for this IP address.

Windows 2000-based clients that are multihomed or that use VPN to access the network that hosts Windows 2000-based domain controllers may send Netlogon packets from an interface that has a source IP address that is not the IP address for that interface. These packets contain IP addresses that belong to subnets that may not be configured in Active Directory. When a domain controller receives a Netlogon packet, it examines the source IP address to determine the client's site name. If a site cannot be located, event 5778 is logged.

solution :
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000

Thanks Man, but

I´ve already checked this home page.

My Domain controllers are running with Windows 2000 + Service Pack 4.

Thanks,
Nelson Gomes

Look in AD Site and Services to make sure the subnet is defined and assigned
to a site. If not create one and assign it to a site.

I completely agree with you.

But this is overseas company and I am afraid to stop the vpn communication doing this

Do you know or someone here have done this configuration before?

Thanks
