I have a older Option 11c ( Release 25.40b ) that has two ethernet expansion cabinets. Currently the switch is down ( keeps Sysloading but will not INI). If I remove the ethernet expansion daughterboard on main SSC card, the switch will come up. I replaced the DB thinking it was defective, same results. I connect to the expansion cabinet's SSC and can see the following error " Cannot obtain local IP address ". I have seen this in the past a couple of years ago and was able to fix it by manually entering the IP in the expansion cabinet. Problem is I don't remember the commands! Anyone have a link to the documentation or know it? I did search the PIC site but can only find the installation docs which do not have what I need.

The card I replaced was the expansion card on main SSC and the MAC address's are there. I believe you only have to enter the MAC address change if you replaced the card on the expansion cabinet.

Sorry. Yes that is correct. I've not come across many V25.xx systems with Ethernet links. They only have Fibre.

It sounds just like a Succession 1000s system. Have you reloaded the software on the SSC expansion cabinet?. I had a problem where I wasn't able to access the cabinet 1 system and we had to format the daughterboard, then reload in the software via the TTY for that cabinet. I seem to remember that there was a prompt to automatically assign the IP address?.

Without doing the last bit, the system wouldn't connect properly.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I did another Cold start and for what ever reason it all came back up this time. I had previously tried this several times? Oh well, it's working!
