I am receiving an "Error 22002: RegCreateKeyEx() returned error 1450, 'Insufficient resources exist to complete the requested service'" when trying to change a property value in the Enterprise Manager. I am using SQL Server 2000 on a Windows 2003 Server. The service account is a domain account. I have set the service account to act as part of the operating system and made it part of the local administrators. Any ideas on how to fix it?

It would help if we knew what you were trying to change.

What account are you using to access SQL Server? Does it have permission to make the changes (SQL Server's sysadmin)?

SQLAgent is running and uses the same account as SQL Server and this account has admin rights on the server.

Have you checked Task Manager to see what kind of CPU usage occurs on the box before, during and after your attempt to change these properties?

Yes, and there is no change in task manager with CPU or RAM usage.

Okay, let me put my question in simpler language.

The SQLServerAgent is NOT the one trying to make the change. YOU ARE. The change is being made with the login and permissions that YOU are using to log into SQL Server. Now, what login are you using and does it have permission to make the changes?

I am a domain admin on the domain and a local admin on the SQL server.

Okay, I googled your error and got a few links that might point you in the right direction.

It might be a Windows issue, according to what I've found. Hopefully the links will help.
