When saving and closing an Excel XP file I constantly get the following error message:

"Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close We are sorry for the inconvenience" (Nice touch!)

When I hit the debug button the following message appears...

"The instruction at "0x300c97c2" referenced memory ar "0x02ece2c0". The memory could not be "read"

This occurs for about 75% of files that I attempt to save and close. Please, has anyone any ideas??

Thanks.

I get a very similar message whenever I close excel - whether there is a file open or not. Methinks you and I need the latest service pack (I believe they are on 3 already)

Rgds, Geoff
