A user created a Personal Distribution List in Outlook 2000. The DL has been working fine until lately. When she tries to open the DL to make modifications, the following error occurs:

Using Outlook 2000: Can't open this item. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.

Using Outlook 2003 Beta: Can't open this item. There is not enough memory available on the Microsoft Exchange Server computer to perform the operation.

Our Exchange environment is as follows: Exchange 2000 SP3 on Windows 2000 SP3. The server has 2gb of RAM and plenty of disk space.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Lynne

Hi Lynne,

I just came across the same problem. Did you ever resolve your?

thx,
g.

That was a long time ago...I believe it had to do with the number of recipients they had in their DL. I found during my many searches on this matter that Personal Distributions lists has some what of a limit to the number of recipients. I can't remember the recommendation from Microsoft...150 to 200 I think. How many entries are in your PDL?

I was searching through these forums to see if there is a way to change the size of the distribution list. 165 or whatever the limit is, is not cutting it for our firm. Does anyone know of a way to change it? We have Outlook 2000 and we want to save the distribution list in a Public folder.

Thanks for any advice.
