Hi I just noticed that after hiding some columns on the outer right of my sheet. (trying to hide all columns that doesn't have anything to do with the sheet)
I get a strange error when trying to group some other columns. I get the error "Object can't be moved outside sheet" or similar since I don't use an english version of Excel.

Anybody knows what this means? I have two buttons in my sheet but removing them doesn't help that much. Have tried to find the objects and according to excel there are non after removing the buttons. Allthough the problem persists after removing them.

Anybody?

you do have an object in the last column / last row of your sheet

best bet is to simply delete that column / row - this should get rid of the phantom object as well...

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Cell comments can cause this to happen. Do you have any cell comments anywhere in the columns you're trying to group.

Cheers, Glenn.

Did you hear about the literalist show-jumper? He broke his nose jumping against the clock.

Yes actually I do. I've tried to remove the columns and rows but then the grouping kind of hangs and doesn't work.
Does this mean that I should remove the comments to get along with the problem?

Yes, I'm afraid so, remove the comments and you should be OK.

Cheers, Glenn.

Unfortunately it didn't help.
The same problem continues.

Is there any other way you think?

It's either what xlbo ( Geoff ) said, or what I said. I don't believe I've heard of another cause.

The last time I had this, I'd missed one single comment that was in a mass of cells ... took me a while to spot it.

Cheers, Glenn.

try deleting the last couple of columns in your spreadsheet (IU and IV)
then delete the last rows (65535 & 65536)

try again

I unlocked the sheet and removed the columns I didn't want and all comments. Then it worked. :) Thanks a lot

I actually found out how to solve it!
There's no need to remove the comments. Just make sure
they don't go over the last column when the grouping is done. Just grab the Comment and move it to the other side.

Those darned comments! [smile]

Cheers, Glenn.
