I am trying to upgrade from windows me to 2000 professional, but when I click on yes to upgrade I get this error message

"The option to upgrade would not be available at this time because SEtup was unable to load the file C:\windows\UpgDlls\wp95upg.dll\win9XUPG\W95UPG.DLL

The System cannot find the file specified.

I checked the UpgDlls folder in windows and it has only two files W95UPG.DLL and W95UPGNT.DLL
so the path seems to be c:windows\upgdlls\wp95upg.dll

What can I do. I do not want to perform a clean install.

The upgrade seems to looking for an incorrect path

Why do you not want to perform a clean install? It is far less troublesome in the long run than upgrading and sorting out any problems with the installation, even though it does involve backing up all data and restoring it afterwards plus reinstalling applications.

Is there a way for me to get around the error stated below without doing a clean install?

Windows ME to Windows 2000 upgrade is not supported

SUMMARY
Upgrading Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional has not been tested for full feature functionality and is not a supported upgrade path.
MORE INFORMATION
A supported upgrade path from Windows Me to Windows 2000 is not available because Windows 2000 was released before Windows Me, and upgrade capabilities were not included. With many core changes such as the registry split, the removal of real-mode support, and new features such as Microsoft Windows Movie Maker and System Restore, Windows Me is not a candidate for upgrading to Windows 2000.
