I have a windows 2003 server (just a member server) in a Windows 2003 Domain with a DC. I am trying to install Exchange 2003 and i get the following error message.

Setup failed installing sub-component Microsoft Windows Active Directory Schema update with error code 0xC103798A.

I have run Forest prep on the DC and also the ADC connector all are fine

Any Ideas would be great

Thanks Simon

Thanks very much for the reply back. I have already read that document and have made sure that dynamic updates are enabled.

The DC was a NT PDC before but i upgraded it. Also that technical document from Microsoft is for Win 2000. Under DNS in 2003 it looks different and there is different choices. The choices are

non-secure or secure
none

Should there be more choices with 2003?

Regards

Simon

There should be an option of AD integrated updates.
Sounds like your schema is not quite right.

As far as installing Exchange 2003, there is a really useful interactive checklist included with the installation that takes you step by step - starting running the forest prep, domain prept, etc. Most of these actions have to be run by an account with Enterprise Admin permissions.

thanks for the response i have now resolved those issues and exchange is now installed.

What was the fix for this issue. I am having the same issue.
