I just bought a new computer with MS Vista on it. Somehow,I've done something to cause an error message that keeps popping up. It's especially annoying because it won't close unless I do the Control+Alt+Delete task bar function. The message gives the date and says "Cannot Display Webpage". This happens when I'm not trying to get a webpage. It's continual. Can you help me?

More details of the problem might help.

What browser are you using? Do you have Internet connection at all? Is it just one site or all sites

Try running Disk Cleanup. Try cleaning out your Temporary Internet Files. See if System Restore can get you back to when things worked.

IE7 when run from an Administrator has an option under Tools to Diagnose Connection problems, have you tried that?

Have you tried IE7 without Add-ons? Look under System Tools in Accessories on the Start Menu.

You could try resetting Internet Explorer settings. (Help and Support article)

"If disabling add-ons doesn't solve the problem, try resetting Internet Explorer back to its default settings. This removes all changes that have been made to Internet Explorer since it was installed, but it does not delete your favorites or feeds.

Close all Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows.

Click to open Internet Explorer.

Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.

Click Reset.

When you are done, click Close, and then click OK.

Close Internet Explorer and reopen it for the changes to take effect."

Consider Malware as a problem.

I have tried disk clean up on my computer, and a systems utility disk, but not everything. I'll try them, thanks!
