Hello,

I am having problems with a user account. After recreating her Exchange account and letting it create the NT account. The user logs on to the network using an Windows XP computer and Outlook XP, she recieves this error opening Outlook.

"Unable to open your default e-mail folders. You do not have permissions to log on."

Where do I set these permissions? I have never had to do this before. The permissions on the account are fine, I have also checked the permissions on her 'profile' folder (and subs. I am stumped, why can't she open her bloody exchange account?

completely frustrated

when you recreated her exchange account did you set the primary NT account to her NT/XP network account? (make sure you choice the "select existing NT account")

Make sure you have her log into the network in the XP also otherwise Exchange server won't see her as a valid user even if you have her profile setup correctly.

Hi Jake

Had tried that originally but had no success. That is why I deleted her NT account, and selected 'Create new NT account' instead of 'existing NT account'. I believe this is a bigger problem than just exchange, When I had her log on to an older nt machine with office 2000, everything was fine. When we went back to xp the problem persisted.

so you may have the problem in the local profile, did you recreate the NT user account with the same name ? if so, make sure you delete the local profile folder on the XP machine so you can a clean start when she login into her "new" network account, then try outlook
