I have a problem when I'm deleting files within Explorer. If I delete one file, it is deleted but does not go into the recycle bin. If I try to delete multiple files, I get the following error message.

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:00000001.

One file is deleted but does not go into the recycle bin.

Can anyone help as the error message means absolutely nothing to me.

The only thing left to suggest is searchin the internet...ala..google...and others to see if you can find others with the exact problem......

It could be it's something totally unrelated to the path we've been down.......

You know how, in Windows.....you change something over here,,,and it effects something over there.......and you don't realize it till you go to use it...
By then you don't remember every little tweak you've made....

Peace

Thanks, TekTippy4U for all your ideas and I am sorry that they hasn't solved my problem for me. I'll try Google etc.

I learnt something new and that is how to use the CAB files on my Win98SE disc. It is much appreciated.

Your welcome Rob
And to follow up a bit on CAB files.....and you probably figured this out.....
The reason I had you extract to Desktop(easy to find)....or any other folder besides /WINDOWS...is that the System will not "Overwrite"....a file being used.......especially a system file......
That's why I had you rename it on Desktop "before" tranporting it over to Windows..

Peace to you in all you do

Thanks For the info, TekTippy4U. There are a couple of ideas that I will try. I'll let you know how I get on.

It is a case of good news and bad news.

I used the tip under the section "Cannot delete any Files in Windows" and it worked. The good news is that it removed about 0.5 Gb of files.

The bad news is the underlining problem is still there though. Anything deleted from C doesn't appear anything from D does.

I'll keep reapeating the technique until I get round to reformatting. It is less critical now, I can recover space on my C drive and the critical files that I have are on the D drive.

So thanks again TekTippy4U for your help.

I don't remember if this has been covered in this thread......Let me ask....Is it possible the "View hidden and system files(Show All Files)" setting under "folder options>view" is Not checked......???

These are just "my" thoughts....and should be carefully measured against other opinions....I try very hard to impart correct info at all times.

I always have Explorer set up to show all files. What appeared to be happening was that rather than put a file into the recycle bin it would create a subdirectory of the Recycle Bin. I had a series of folders. These were numbered Dc537 through to Dc562. I couldn't delete them using Windows. The technique removing the recycle bin using DOS was the only way.
