I have had this PC for four years it is a Compac it has Win ME on it.I have 128 MB ram and he has been loyal. problem is i turned it on yesterday and got a black screen with the message "there is key board error".Well i thought my keys were stuck so i disconneted the keyboard restarted and got the same message.I then removed both the keyboard and mouse , powed it off and back on and still the same message .What could be problem?

This is _not_ a good place for this post, however I would guess that it really is a keyboard failure, try changing it.

Take your keyboard to a friends house and see if your keyboard works on another computer. If it does NOT, then
you have found your problem. If it DOES WORK, then the
controller chip on the Compaq mother board (that talks to
the keyboard) has probably gone bad and the mother board will need to be replaced or repaired.

All of this assumes you have not bent some pins on the keyboard connector. I urge everyone to purchase generic
PC's so that you can purchase mother boards and other components from almost ANY PC seller.
