error message loop at login

Cannot access PC. NT.
after pressing Cnt-Alt-Del instead of getting the login box it comes back with "Unexpected login failure" The error codes have been different every time. After selecting OK goes back to Cnt-Alt-Del. Will cycle round three times before locking up and needing a reboot.

It could be trying to auto login but nothing has been released recently that would require this.
There has been a recent Netware client upgrade to V4.83. This appears to have been completed as the cnt-alt-del screen has changed.
Any ideas before I have to rebuild

Well, the obvious thing would be to go into safe mode and un\reinstall the client. Maybe it did not complete properly.
