The following error message comes up at many times while browsing on the internet:

Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 2
Char: 9
Error: Invalid Character
Code: 0
URL:
Do you want to continue runing scripts on this page?

Yes No

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

Thanks

Understand it literally: there is error in that page. Send mail to webmaster or don't go to this site (for a time:).
Alas, errors in scripts are not so rare things. You (and I) can't correct this world.

You can turn it off, aojonesoa, if you want.

in IE go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab.
Under the 'browsing' section.. about 4th or 5th item I think is the "Disable Script Debugging" and "Display a notification about every script error". Check the first box and uncheck the second if you don't want to get the messages.

The message is only telling you that a JavaScript used in the page has a mistake in it.. that the 9th character in the 2nd line is wrong. You can't change it, only the person who created it can!

Thanks for the information, but I believe we have tried this before. Also, another piece of information is that this happens on almost every website visited.

Any more thoughts?

What IE version? What you see with View/Source in leading (or pointed in err msg) lines of 'bad' pages? Are err coords (line, char ##) the same in all cases? Have you LAN station via proxy etc or connect via modem? May be it's time to reinstall IE?

Apropos: IE is not a part of MS Office. How about THIS forum topic?

Please let me know if there is a forum on IE. I did not find one and thought this was the most appropriate one.
