I am trying to install Exchange2000 server on a Windows2000 Advanced Server. Active Directory is installed also. But the installation does even start as an error message appears saying: "The component "Microsoft Exchange Forest Preparation" cannot be assigned the action "Install" because: Either you do not have permission to update the Active Directory schema or Active Directory service is currently too busy."
I am logged on as Administrator of course. I checked the Knowledge Base which suggested that Remote Registry Service must be started. I made sure it is started but I still receive the same error message.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

Try starting the services for Remote Access Connection Manager.

I started Remote Access Connection Manager, but I am still receiving same error message.

Make sure the account you are using is part of the "schema admins" group. Also you may want to run the setup with the forest prep and domain prep switches first

setup.exe /forestprep
setup.exe /domainprep

nhidalgo is right about adding yourself the schema admin. You also need to add yourself Enterprise admin. Only reason I suggest you to start the services is because I assume you had schema and enterprise admin added.

Also, only time you run forestprep and domainprep is when you already have and Exchange up and running.

Thanks guys.
I tried everything you suggested. I also went on Knowledge Base and searched for a long time, but nothing helped. I have the impression that there is something wrong with either DNS or AD.
