I have a problem booting my system for the first time. BIOS recognizes everything just fine, but when I try to boot Win2k from the cd, I get the message "disk boot failure insert system disk & press enter" I must have checked my CD-ROM settings 5 times, everything is good to go but I can't get rid of that message!

I'm not exactly clear on what you mean here. Boot windows - ** OR INSTALL IT ??????

If you have a blank hard drive, and your trying to install Windows from a CD-ROM,
****
Then you need to set the CD-ROM to be bootable in the BIOS >>>>>>>
* AND MAKE IT BOOTABLE BEFORE THE HARD DRIVE (temporarilty until you have finished the installation of Windows - then change it back)

SO - under BOOT in the BIOS -
it should read
1) FLOPPY
2) IDE 0 -* DISABLED *
3) CD-ROM

* OR * just move the CD-ROM UP ........ (temporarily) in place of the "IDE-0".........

It depends on your mainboard........ and BIOS
