Hi Everyone,

I deleted a user from AD. When I look at my mailstore, I see the deleted user mailbox has a red 'x' on it. When
I try to purge the mailbox, I get an Error message:

(c1038af9) "The operation
cannot be performed because the mailbox was already
reconnected to another existing user."

Any advise that can help me resolve this issue would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks
Adesh

I am not sure if I deleted the account properly, but it
is failing my
backup procedure as it says in Event ID 9548, "Disabled
user /o TEXT,
ou/ TEXT, /cn TEXT, cn/TEXT does not have a master
account SID. Please
use Active Directory MMC to set an active account as the
user's master
account.

Is there a way to get rid of this mailbox and account? If
this is
associated with another account, how do I get rid of the
association
and find out which account it is associated with? I ran
cleanup agent
and nothing happened. Any ideas? Please help?

Sounds like you have a problem with "lingering objects" in your AD. Could have happened due to a recent restore of a server from backup or if you brought a DC back online that had been offline for a while. Does this sound possible?

will tell you several ways to deal with lingering objects in a Windows 2000 environment.

offers an easier approach if you are running Windows 2003 server.

Be careful with these ideas.
