Some of my computers give me this error, but it is only a small percentage of them with this problem:
Error downloading file \SiteStat.xml, naInet GetLastError() = 0
This occurs every time they try to download updates from the epo server for the machines that it happens on.

is it also giving you an unable to locate valid repository? check your DNS settings on those machines

This is everything from one of the update attempts:

What DNS settings am I checking? I have the correct DNS server if that's what you mean, but it shouldn't matter because its downloading the updates from a server on the LAN.

do you only have one repository setup ?

it will still need the dns - lan or not

All my ePO stuff is on one server. Yes it is the only repository.

I discovered that I can connect to the repository server on port 8081 in IE to view the agent logs from the problematic machines.

This part of the log

The deployment task will be re-tried in 7 minutes because update is in progress.

means something is still running, delete the contents of this folder c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\Common Framework\Task

delete only the .ini files, then start and stop the framework service, run an agent wake up and you should be ok.

Same thing, this time without that lines about the deployment stuff.

I've tried every imaginable combination of installing/uninstalling/reinstalling the epo agent and virusscan. I did have one of the PCs start working again today for no apparent reason, but that doesn't help me any with the others.

Are you running VS8.0i? what do you have the access protection set to? any log entries on those machines?

Turned off everything in access protection and still nothing, besides it still inherits all the same policies as every other machine so that should affect everything not just a few. The only thing it doesn't do is update anything.

have you tried running the dat file from a command prompt like dis

sdat4441.exe /SILENT /LOGFILE C:\SDAT 4441.LOG /F

the /f is for fix or force or something like that

you know you can delete the sitestat.xml and it will be recreated...

Running the update locally from a superdat works fine, it's just a problem to have it automatically update. I have tried deleting not only sitestat.xml, but the entire repository and recreating it.

Does anybody know which port the agent actually downloads files from the server on? And is it a different port than the agent communicates with the server on? I may have a network device that resets connections on that port for certain machines, but would allow the agent to communicate on a different port.

There is no sitestat.xml on the workstation that I can find. It's just a file kept on the server, and the client downloads it at every update.

I ment the Sitemaplist.xml located under \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\Common Framework

It might be an issue with this not being update correctly, if you changed repository names recently,
