I'm using Apache version 2.0.50 and I've recently discovered that when using Internet Explorer and trying to access a document that doesn't exist, instead of Apache's error document Internet Explorer shows it's own Not Found type of page. I would like to find a way for them to get Apache's error document like Mozilla/Netscape recieves because I want people trying to access the website to know that it exists, just not necissarily the document they were trying to recieve.

If any one can shed some light on this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

There is a known problem with ie and 404 pages - it needs the custom error to be over a certain size.

I'm not sure quite what the limit is, it's not much though.

Try making the error page bigger - stick a picture on it or something, or a load of text at the bottom.

Wierd, huh?
