Hi all,

We've got a this mystery on our network: when some users try to create or compact a database on any network drive, they get the "database already exists". Those users can however open a database on the network drive, but then again, they can't compact it. We've tried using both the system.mdw and our own workgroup, the users, including me, have full access to the network drive and have administrator permissions on their own pc; Operating system Win NT 4 and Win 2000

Anyone who has a suggestion?

While working, access create an ldb file some thing as a transaction log file for SQLServer. After closing, it should delete file. Maybe it isn't deleted? John Fill

thx john, but that was one we checked already... the problem is however "solved" --> it turned out to be our antivirus software that pulled the trick !!! disabling the a.v. solved the problem
