Would really appreciate help in determining the problem behind a locking error described in the subject line. The error occurs when trying to close one of the forms in the database (which is tied to a table in the database containing almost 21,000 records). A quick resolution is to have the user (named in the message) logout of the database and then the others affected can close the form and log out of the database.

In hopes of leaving the error behind, I recently recreated the database, imported in the objects, had our network security person re-establish the two security groups we have on all of the objects in the database - an administrative group with 3 users and a data entry group with 8 users, but we are still receiving the error. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm wondering if the problem may be in the security setup or in the database itself. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

I am encountering this same problem. Does anyone have any insight into the cause. Thanks for readdressing this.

I dont know if this is help, but I gave up on the record locking problems and went totaly to unbound forms. Your users need to pick the record they want to use, if it is not locked by another user they can have it. If it is locked we use a time limit to determin if the first user has expired the time limit, and if so, the second user gets it without a question. If the first user then tries to save the changes they get a "Sorry" message. Take a screen shot if you want to save your changes! Then reopen the record when it is available.

Bla Bla Bla, but it works great. Sorry I didn't have any other ideas.

Make sure that the users are not opening the database in 'exclusive' mode. This can be done when a person opens a database using the file menu and the 'exclusive' box on the right side of the window is checked.

I just had a brain fart!!! You cannot open a database in exclusive mode with other users already in it. Sorry!!
