I have the following error

"Safety settings on your machine do not allow accessing a data source on another domain"
while trying to browse to a data access page, generated from Access2000 residing on my Win2K server

I would appreciate a fix...here's the scenario

Ihave IIS running on Win2K server running a website. I can browse to my website from the internet, no problems!
I have a Access2000 database, mydb.mdb, and a data access page, xyz.htm, stored in the directory. I can browse it locally from the server and it works fine,
but
when I browse to it from another client over the internet I get this error:
"Safety settings on your machine do not allow accessing a data source on another domain"

I lowered all the security setitngs in the client browser to low...ouch!...now I get this error

"file f:\inetpub\ not found"
ofcourse the file is right there, and the path is correct too

HELP!!

Hello!

what is the method to access this database? are you using asp or any script file i.e. dll etc?
if so the set permission (windows NT permission) everyone RXRX and IUSR_SERVER RXRX.

I hope this will help..

Thanx..I got it working
database acces is through asp script file
so
I altered the security settings to add my website to trusted sites..the other workaround, according to microsoft is there, but is too cumbersome..so that's second on the wishlist

then it was a matter of setting useRemoteSource property on the data access page to TRUE

thanx for the reply

Uhh, you're running your Data Access Page in two-tier achitecture, from the sounds of it. Having downloaded half of the MSDN archives and fought with Data Access Pages for some time now, I think you should know that deploying a DAP (in two-tier architecture) on a public access server is dangerous - to say the least. That's what the "RemoteUserAccess" property is all about.

If your page is NOT running in three-tier achitecture and is deployed on public access server, malicious users could very easily gain direct access to the database, execute apps and you might very well get spanked.

Mail me at jason@freightbrokersonline.com for more info, if you need it.
