Hi,
I have an VB 6.0 application that uses ADO to create an
object using ADODB.connection, ADODB.recorset etc.
The application works fine in windows 2000 but in 98 it
gives me "Error 429 ActiveX component can't create object".
How do i overcome this problem ? Are there any patches in
Microsoft site that i can install in win98 to remove this problem.Any help or links would be helpfull and apreciated,

Thanks in Advance,

Rann.

Make sure that you have the correct MDAC installed on the Win98 machine. If not you can download it from microsoft or copy and install it from your win2000 machine (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\Redist\mdac_typ.exe) Thanks and Good Luck!

installing MDAC 2.6+ should correct the problem, but it could be another object causing the problem that uses ADO, such as a bound control. Try fixing with VB6Cli.Exe. You can download this from MS. Do a search on article no. Q194751.
There are two fixes there, one for vb5 and one for vb6. Make sure you get the right one....
