Error 17 "invalid Database number"

I am using a DOS application that has been p[rogrammed in Fow Pro 2.6. The app works fine on our Win98 machines, but when I go to use it on a Win2000 machine it gives me the error described in the header.

Is there any compatibility issues between Fox and 2000? The vendor hasn't tested the app on 2000 PC's so they wont offer support. And Im not familiar with FoxPro so please offer any info you have.

Win2000 specs:
1.0 GHz Dell laptop
526MB RAM
20 G HD
DVD\CD-RW

1. Have you applied the fast machine patch ?. If not, do the application. The software supplir need to apply the patch and recompile the application.

2. I would not recommend you to proceed with W2000 and FP dos combinations. I have posted similar views in this forum, though some are using it.

Thanks for the reply ramani. I have not applied this patch. Can I apply the patch to just these certain 2000 machines instead of having the vendor re-compile? If so, how do I do it, as Im not real familiar with FP.

I really dont have a choice about using this program. It is our control center to submit patient reviews to the state. It is required by law to have such a program. They are working on a new windows version (instead of DOS) that wont be out until march. Jeremy Leasure

HI

You need to recompile the application after the patch is applied. So applying only on FoxPro may not solve the problem.
