Hi gang,

I received an eps file, from a client, which was 11mb, and about A4 page size.

I cropped a part of the eps in photoshop and saved the now smaller eps as a photoshop eps and the file is now 16mb.

My question is, how can an eps file that is small in size (mm/cm) be larger in file size (mb)?

When i opened the source document i am given the choice to scale the resolution and print dimention, photoshop then churns away and gives me the file at my selected size. Is this effecting the file somewhat? Is it generally a good idea to be scaling eps files using this method?

So i guess this is really three questions :)

The original eps will probably be a vector. When you open it in PS you are rasterising the eps hence the increase in file size.

If you have Illustrator or CorelDraw or Freehand it would be preferable to resize the vector eps in one of those programs.

hmm thats one thing i didnt think to try.
the part of the eps that i wanted to keep was a logo that was a picture of a flower mostly, im quite sure it was a bitmap.

i will double check tho.

thanks dimoj.
