ePO advice for a multiple NT 4 domain migration to AD 1

Hello All,

Right now we have at least 4 domains that will be getting upgraded to Active Directoy in a few months. Each domain currently has its own ePO server as well as administration staff. What is the best practice for a migration such as this as far as ePO is concerned? I thought that maybe each domain could just remove the ePO client from the domain before the AD migration, and then after the migration reinstall the agent through ePO for the new AD domain. Is this right? Also, management wants to be able to view the status of the ePO servers from a centralized location, without giving up each domains individual administration rights... I read about the database convergence tool, is this a valid solution? Anyone have experience using this tool?
Any ideas are welcome!

Thank you,

JBG

I haven't had the experience you mention as of yet, however I'll have part of it soon. I have one ePO server in one domain administering multiple NT domains. That works well, you just have to remember to put in the correct ID and password for the domain with a distributed repository.

I've converted the ePO Server to Windows 2003 but it's still an NT4 domain member server.

There is a 2003 AD test domain that a few computers have been moved over to. They were simply rediscovered without an intervention on my part.

You should be able to view each server through the ePO console.

BTW, when we switch over, we'll have one domain and break or remote locations into operating units.

Not a direct answer to your question but maybe there's something there you can use.

Thank you for your response! I'm hoping that the PCs are rediscovered as well when we bring up the new domain and the PCs are migrated. We'll see...

Thanks again,

Jay
