I have EPO 2.5 installed on a server and thus far have been using the console on the server itself. It works great.

I recently tried to install the remote console on a desktop.
When I try to login to the EPO server, I get an error that says "Could not create Database Administrator Account, make sure you are logged in as a local admin."

I took the following trouble shooting steps.
1.) obviously I am a local admin
2.) made sure I had dbo rights on my sqlserver
3.) made sure the http ports were correct and that I had a valid epo login
4.) made sure my odbc was setup.

Cannot for the life of me figure out why this won't connect,.

Please help!!!!

Local admin means you have "local admin" rights on the machine where the remote console is installed. This may differ from the rights you have using the console on the ePO server itself. Try adding the "domain admin" to the local admin group.

Hope this helps.

You can use the Configuration Utility to change the ePolicy Orchestrator database and also change the user name and password you are using to administer the SQL database and to review the AVI database. The Configuration utility is installed automatically along with the ePolicy Orchestrator software. If you installed the program files to the default directory, the utility will be installed to this path:

C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePO\2.0

The Configuration Utility (CFGNAIMS.EXE) is a stand-alone executable that you can run from either a console or server.

To change the database:

Browse to the directory where the CFGNAIMS.EXE utility is installed.
Double-click the CFGNAIMS.EXE file to execute the utility.
Click the SQL server tab to change the database. Select the SQL server name and enter the Database name. The database you select must already exist.
Click the Administrator tab to change the user name and password you use to administer the SQL database.
Select either the Use Windows NT authentication or Use SQL authentication.
Select Use Windows NT authentication if you set up your MSDE or SQL Server 7 database to use NT authentication. Selecting this option also enables the Domain name field. If you select this option you must enter a valid user name, password, and domain.
Select Use SQL authentication if you set up your MSDE or SQL Server 7 database to use SQL authentication. If you select this option you must enter a valid user name and password for the database. (The default is sa for the user name and no password)
Change to the correct information in the Reviewer tab.

I am having the same problem with ePO and I have tried all of the solutions already posted. None of them have worked. This problem is really frustrating! Any further help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you did not do these:

1. Use Windows ME or XP to run the console
2. Use IE 6.0

Recommended is IE 5.5 running on Windows 2000 or NT.

Hope this helps.
