Hi,

I have a system R9.5si with duplicate processor (in 01A/01B) and I would like to install a new EPN (J58890N) to be the 02A.
My questions is how many Expansion Interface boards do I need. For sure I need a couple (from 01A to 02A) but I am not sure if I also need a couple more for 01B to 02A.

There are (3) levels of redundancy in the Definity product:

Standard Reliability: No components are duplicated.

High Reliability: The processor is duplicated (what you have now).

Critical Reliability: The processor, tone/clocks, fibers, and expansion interface boards are duplicated.

You can add the new EPN as either High or Critical reliability.

For High reliability you will need (1) EI board in each cabinet, (2) transceivers, (1) fiber cable, & (1) tone/clock in the EPN.

For Critical reliability, double the above quantities.

Thanks for the answer.
In the case I take the critical redundancy I suppose I will need a port cabinet 02B (to be attached to the duplication control cabinet 01B). If I haven't a 02B I suppose my only option is the high redundancy (only EI to join 01a with 02a).
I found this link and it looks like no joining can be possible between 01B and 02A.

Only one more question.

Do you know if I can add the EPN (02A) on line, I mean without turn off the full system.
I think I can add the EI board in the 01A cabinet and then plug the fiber without switch off the control cabinet.
Is required any SAT administration to add the EPN?

Yes, it can be done with the PPN up. The EI board has to go in the left labeled slot in the A carrier of the PPN.
