Entering Information while Filter applied

I built an attendance database for my company. It worked fine without problems (with some help of some of you) for several months. We had a new employee hired into HR and they did not train her properly. Consequently, she would look up an employee using the filter by selection button I had put on the form. She would then begin to enter other employee information while the filter was still in place. This reeked havoc on the system throwing information all over the place. I had saved the dbase on the network one week prior so recovery was not too big of an issue but my question is why this happened. Also, what code should I use to insure that when the filter is applied someone cannot try to add a record which causes all this to happen?

It is very hard to think of all the things a user may do and then trap these items.

Any help would be appreciated.

The form has an on apply filter event which I imagine you could set the allow additions property to false
me.allowadditions = false but you will need to reset it at some point
as far as how it messed things up that is difficult to say without more detail unless the filter was applied leaving fields incomplete or she lost track of where she was.
At least you had the back up
Another thing to think about would be to set the allowfilters to false while in the dataentry mode

I will try these ideas. Thanks for the input. I am wondering if I could eliminate the filter tool bar I made and use a "Find" command button on a tool bar instead. Would I be able to add records in this mode without compromising the database?

Thanks in advance,
