Enermax Switching Power Supply Dead?...

In the last two day I have tried two Enermax switching power supplies and neither supply turns on.

I had a third power supply that was purchased several months ago that would turn on, even when the DC leads were not plugged into anything. Does the fact that this power supply is "switching" have anything to do with not powering up?

Thanks in advance,
Tim

What do you mean it's not powering up? was it connected to a computer? Switching is not causing it to not start.

rockerfellerz,

I tried the power supply both connected to the computer and with no connections to the computer.

I suppose I could have two dead supplies, but this does seem unlikely.

What does the "switching" actually mean/do?

Tim

Switching power supplies are much more complicated than linear power supplies. A switching power supply is more efficient because it only generates the load required while a linear supply is always generating the current the power supply is capable of generating. A linear supply is much simpler, but heavier due to the transformer.
Is the switch to set input voltage set correctly for your area? ( could be 110v or 230v) Did you try a different power cord/outlet?
