Avaya has to turn the telnet feature on for you, it's turned off by default because it's a security risk. You may be able to access via SSH through ASA, if your ASA is current. If it's not current, DO NOT try to upgrade from 2.x to 3.x. I just did this two weeks ago and buggered up my persist.dat file so bad it's pathetic.
