Hi all,

further to my other ping question - found out that proxy does not by default allow icmp ping requests.

Does anyone know how to enable this on a Proxy Server 2, on an NT4 box.

thanks all

As you mentioned, MS Proxy 2.0 does not allow icmp packets by default (actually it is more the fact it has no idea what icmp is).
IF you want you can try this free product called Proxy ping which allows to ping but not from command-line -

thanks claudek - i think my problem may be more related to my router though. I can ping from the router to the internet, but sometimes it just times out. This may be the actual reason why browser based apps are struggling to work, rather than just the ping issue.

many thanks though - have to look for alternative solution in another forum.

thanks for the input
