The option "enable folder view for FTP sites" in Internet Options, Advanced tab does not show up fo me although it does on other NT workstations in the building.

Does anyone know how I can get this option?

What version of Internet Explorer is running on the workstation? you may need to upgrade that computer.

I had IE 5.5 then upgraded to IE6 but still no joy.

Well, I'm running 5.5. @ work, and its there. I'm running 6 @ home, I don't know if its there or not. I will check it out when I get home. Maybe its not a feature of 6, Is that a possibility?

I have version 6.0 and have the FTP option in my Internet options under advanced.

I am having the same issue with a PC at work. The Windows 95 computer works and the XP works but the 98 computer does not. What operating system are you on? I haven't trouble shoot to see if it is actually the operating system or not but that is were I think we might start.

Microsoft Support states:

FTP Folders is included with the Internet Explorer Browsing Enhancements feature in Internet Explorer 5.x, which is installed only when you select a full or typical installation. FTP Folders is installed by default with Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, and Windows 2000.

You need to have that shell extension installed in order to be able to select it. See this KB article:

Hope that helps.

I have exactly the same issue with FTP view. I have a site that is running NT4 workstation with IE 5.5. The "enable folder view for ftp sites" is available on IE 5.5 but after upgrading to IE 6, this function is no longer available. There is no TID out to get this function working. I have not found a solution yet. I also need help. Thanks.

I guess I was a little cryptic, just like the MSKB article. This is how I understand it.

IE 5.x, IE 6 and Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, and Windows 2000 includes a new shell extension called FTP Folders. This extrnsion enables you to browse FTP sites in Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer using an Explorer-style folder-based interface. But this extension is only installed if you do a "Full" or "Typical" installation of IE.

With the inclusion of FTP Folders, there is now an option to "Enable Folder View for FTP Sites". Here's the confusing part. Selecting this option actually turns OFF the new FTP Folders extension and reverts to the older viewing method in IE 4. That is also why you do not see the option in IE when FTP Folders is not installed. There is no option, it is just the default folder view. If you would like to get the option [even if you choose the older IE4 folder view], pull down Tools > Windows Update and get the latest Service Pack and browser enhancements. Then you should have the option.

Hope that helps.
