If you want to just do a backup-to-disk, this has been implemented in various way at least since NetWorker 4:
- via the "optical" device
- via the "file type" device since NW 5
- via the "advanced file type device" since NW 7
What do you want to achieve?
Nothing, really. I just wanted to read about V7.2
Full explanation: I received an marketing-type email from Legato with this leading sentence: With the recent release of EMC Legato NetWorker 7.2, all-disk backup is a practical reality.
This made me curious to RFTM about V7.2 (I frequently do this to bypass the marketing hype and see what the "real deal" is), so I went to the docs/download web page (the public accessable one) and could only find V7.1.3 which appears to be bugfixes and no new functionality.
The date on one of the V7.1.3 docs was dated just a day or two ago, so I assumed that V7.1.3 was freshly added to the site, but no hint of V7.2.
What is really new to 7.2 is the introduction of a so-called "Data Service Agent". It now allows to send all data
to a file device hooked up to any storage node. This now applies also to NDMP save sets which could be sent only to (another) NDMP client (better: Storage Node) so far.
