How do you set up the email server on server 2000? Do you have to add another program? What apps would you suggest.

You need another program. What you need depends on number of clients, features, etc. Probably don't want to spend the 1500USD for Exchange if you have two or three PC's you want to send mail with... Look at as smaller solution. If you do have 50+ users in each site, and different sites in different countries around the world, then you may really want Exchange.

Forget Exchange, go with Lotus Domino R5 Mail server. Its more reliable, a little cheaper, comes with free tech support and software assurance (upgrades) for two years, and you have the option of using Outlook or Lotus Notes as the client.
