Hello all,

I'm having an intermittent problem when using the Docmd.sendobject command, Access crashes about 1 in 3 times using this code. Is there some sort of patch I'm missing or is there a better way to send emails?

Hope any of you can help!

Andrew.

I've never had this issue of access crashing when I use the sendobject command. What version of access, what mail client, what service packs, what exactly is your code? There are lots of things that could go wrong, but there's not enough info to go on to help. I would suspect a corrupt file/dll/install, etc.. from the sound of things.

I'm using Access 2000 from Office 2000 SR1.
We use FTGate for email, which is basically a networked email system. I have no service packs or patches installed. We use Outlook Express for all other emails.

This problem is occuring whenever I use DoCmd.Sendobject in any context. I don't think the problem is the command, I think it may be an external mail server, but this problem happens on all the machines I test my database on.

I may have to write my own internal network mail system if I can't get this sorted out B(

Write your own internal system!? Why?? The function works fine with Outlook Express, it's what I use all the time. You may want to try SR2 for Office2000, you should also look into FTGate and see what they have to say about the issue. I have another method that I've used for emailing as well, it is based on DougP's FAQ in FAQ section. If you want a sample database of it, let me know and I can email it to you.

Is it sending the e-mial right out or are you looking at it first

in other words is tne last paramter in the docmd.send...
True or False

Make it False so the e-mail program pops up and double check everything first before actually sending it.

thanks for the plug JoeMiller
take a look at both these FAQ's
faq181-493
faq705-537
