I've got a simple form that allows users to be able to subscribe to a Newsletter, the standard that is on many sites. They just put in their email and submit the form.

What I want to know is, I would like to set up the application that sends them an email. When they reply to the email it would go to a second program that will confirm the email address is valid and that they want to be added to the list,and then add them to the list.

Is there a way to recieve emails like this with a CF application? I'm fairly familiar with CF, just not mail servers.

Also, I'm pretty new to tek-tips.com and was wondering why some Subjects in the main list on the forumare bold and some are not (namely mine).

You can do this but the first thing you will need is an account on an e-mail server for the e-mails to be sent to. Once you have this, you can just use the <cfpop> tag to download and process them. I didn't know if you were asking but an external mail server is required as CF can't do all of this by itself.

Also, I believe the titles in bold are posts which you haven't viewed yet. I suppose it treats a new post by yourself as new since you just created it and haven't viewed it.
