Email Dialogue Box Hangs while Exporting

Hi,
I am using Crystal Reports 8.0 and exporting a report withing VB6. The format is rich text file and the destination is MAPI. The problem I am getting is that the Email dialogue box freezes after I select name or during selecting name and hangs the application. when I go to select the recipients. Has anyone found a solution to this has i cannot find this error in the crystal knowledge base

It works fine here in CR 8.5

Share the code you're using, I suspect this to be the culprit.

Also, you might make sure that you have the latest hotfixes applied at the CD site.

I am not using any code it is the Export function within the ocx control I use, (the envelope picture) This pulls up the dialogue box with subject, recipient etc... I will now go off and check the site for any fixes

Make sure that you have an active MAPI session when you run the export or it will not work.

This can be accomplished by having a MAPI mail client open and running (i.e. Outlook)

You may also want to start and end a MAPI session in your app to make sure you do not have a dependency on some other app running.

I have applied the hotfixes and outlook is open but I still get the problem it only seems to occur when I use rich text format. But I cannot find a patch for this is there a work around?

The only time I have ever seen similar behaviour was with PDF some time ago that was fixed. Since you claim to have the recent updates I would guess your system is up to date for this to work.

Given this there is likely something else.

What is the verison u2frtf.dll or crxf_rtf.dll? Do you have one or both? what is the location(s)?

Can you export RTF to email from CR itself on the same machine?

I am having the exact problem - It hangs during export to mapi, rtf format.
 
I have this problem in a similar fashion. The sendmail dialog box never comes up. You get to select the export type (in my case PDF) and the destination (MAPI), but then the send mail box never displays.

I've checked the CR KB article C2011229 and I've got all their suggestions in place and it still doesn't work.

I've got other machines where it works, but others where it doesn't. I've checked MAPI.dll, MAPI32.dll and MAPI32x.dll, and they are all the same on all machines.

Does anyone know of any other dll's to check?

I've been going round and round with CR tech support, via email, and still haven't got a solution. I have re-packaged my application to make sure all the CR files are installed in their right places. Still doesn't work.

I am waiting for a reply to my request to elevate this problem and have the engineers look at it.
 
Has anyone had any luck with this?

I've got a VB6 app using CR8 that is causing the same trouble...Mine is actually more widespread though.

Anytime the user tries to export to any format with a destination of Exchange Folder, MAPI, or Folder, and the user clicks on the report after the popup window, the app locks up.
