We currently have a VB app the uses Outlook to email out stuff every 30 minutes. We need to make this app into a NT Service which isn't too hard. But then how can we interact with Outlook to send emails? Right now it only works if your logged into the machine. Is there a way to pass Outlook info to the service so I don't have to login for vb to use Outlook for email?

Thanks

David

I would recommend you take a look at Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) which you can download from Microsoft.

Last year I wrote an app that audited emails in Exchange Server. You need to use CDO because it is designed for use in a GUI-less way, whereas Outlook will always annoy one with those idiotic messages. Once I got the hang of it CDO was much nicer!

My two cents worth. Give a shout if you'd like any help.

Regards,

Andy

Is Outlook in c/w mode connecting to Exchange Server? If so, you can create a mailbox for use by your service account. Then clinet-side, your service can use CDO 1.21 to logon to the "service" mailbox and create the e-mail.
