We recently got hit with MyDOOM, we had to create a new information store and the old public folders were completely lost. We had an email address assigned to a certain public folder and now when I try to add that email address to a new public folder I get the error c10312e7 - the email address already exists in the organization. Since the old public folder was lost how can I remove the association of this particular email address?

Thanks for the help

Even though the public folders are gone, the public folder proxy objects still exist in Active Directory. A public folder proxy object is an entry in the directory that contains all of the mail-related attributes for the public folder (for example, e-mail addresses). You'll find them under Microsoft Exchange System Objects organizational unit in ADUC if you chose to view system obects under advanced. Since the folders for which the proxy object was created no longer exist, you should be able to d4elete them. A bit safer route would be to remove the mail and proxyaddresses attributes.
