Hi,

I would like to find the algorithm for Eliza. That is a very old computerprogram that talks to you. It says things like:

"what is your problem?"

> my computer

"why is your computer a problem"

> because it crashed

"why did your computer crash?"

etc. etc.

Very funny and it should not be very difficult to make such a program in COBOL but... you need a basic language processing algorithm and I don't have it.

Who does?

Regards,

Crox

Hi Crox,

Try a google search. You will find thousands of sites about eliza.

Yeah, too much indead. I like an easy to understand example of the algorithm. Perhaps you know one.

I googled Eliza source code in Java, Javascript, LISP, Scheme, Eiffel, Prolog and every other quirky language - but no COBOL.

Hey, here is Eliza in Snobol:
I even found that IBM has a project called eLiza - no kinship, I gather.
