Customer has a CS1000 4.5 with a 1100 series Signalling Server and a MGC card. About once a week the IP phones go down and we have to reset the MGC and SS. Only alarms I see are the following:

ELAN009 ELAN 0 host 137.135.128.20(SS) disabled, write to socket fail due to far end disconnect or Ethernet problems.
ELAN009 ELAN 0 host 137.135.128.21(MGC) disabled, write to socket fail due to far end disconnect or Ethernet problems.

I checked the history logs and I get these 2 messages and then the ones that say they are enabled about 3 times a day however the IP Phones do not go down then. They only seem to go down once during the week. In ld137 when I do a stat ELNK I see lots of input and output errors.
Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this. Sytehas been in place with IP Phones and this just started about 3 weeks ago.
Thanks

I used to get those errors on the ELAN once a day during switchover (older Motorola CPU's) but after swapping out the AUI to Ethernet Convertors to a different brand, the errors stopped. Probably isn't applicable for your situation, but I thought it might give you (or others with the same situation) something to think about.

Looks like you are using the default Nortel Subnet for the ELAN. Are they plugged into a switch or hub? Do you have other MGC cards that are doing this? Is this MGC and SS in the same room with the PBX or located some where else? Definitely looks like a network issue.

They are plugged into a switch. There is only 1 MGC card and the MGC,SS, and PBX are all in the same room. This just started about 3 weeks ago. Before that for the last few years all was well.

I found a reference to your error message below, but I don't think its the same fault?.

The messages are caused by a timeout on the customers firewall.
the pbxLink keep alive process sends a UDP message every 2 secs on port 15000.
Once an hour it sends one on TCP port 15000.
The nature of firewalls will allow the message on the port, but if no traffic is seen on the port for a certain time, the firewall will then block the port. This timeout is less than one hour.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Thank you, will check it out.
