I would like a job as a developer.

I have a BA in Geography with many software developer classes
(Perl, Cold Fusion,Java, Unix shells, C and C++) at local college
with a C++ certificate (from local college).

Please advise if this is considered of any importance?

I know a CS degree is considered the highest but from your experience does
my educational background account for anything in software developer field?

Thanks for any info.

You have to choose between Application development or System programming. Experience is O.K but if you can build a logic, Understand a problem and if you can make use of all the resources it will be fine or you can go to the link below and check. You can develop your career in that field too using Computers.

System programming is working on Unix and Windows NT OS.

Application programming would be stuff like Excel, Access Visual Basic, Visual C++ etc...?
