Editing Files on Windows Server

I can't rename files that are saved on Shared folders.
Every time I try it keeps saying that the folder does not exist.

I also cannot edit Excel and Word documents that are saved on our servers; however, I can save and edit TXT documents.
 
probably a silly question but I assume you have office installed on the system you are trying to edit the documents from? What error are you getting?

Are you trying to rename the folders from the server itself or across the network from a client?

Thanks for all the responses....I found out what the problem was. I needed to add the following Registry Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSC\parameters]
"FormatDatabase"=dword:00000001
